7 Favorite Things

Pardon the self-indulgence and assumption that you’d care, but enough people ask me what my favorite eco products and cool things of the moment are, and so I thought I’d chronicle them here.  Below is a list of my constantly evolving seven favorite things right now… besides raindrops on roses, of course:

1. Michael Franti – he is raw talent with a heart of gold and an evolved perspective, plus he ain’t hard to look at.

2. My turquoise Wild Wool over-sized scarf – it is like wearing a hug, as corny as that sounds. It is lighter, softer, and not itchy like lamb’s wool… plus, it’s helping to keep the New Zealand forests standing because it’s made with piahuama fiber, which is controversial but I support the practice because the non-native possum like creatures are euthanized humanely.

3. Handmade cards – I put a funny picture of the recipient on the front, and then crafty things around it. I must say they blow Hallmark away, and are quite fun to create over a glass of wine…. or three.

4. The Solutions Journal- my hero and friend Paul Hawken is involved, and I signed up immediately as I am so tired of talking about problems. We need to shift gears.

5. The Meatrix – best cartoon web video ever of what factory farming is, and why it is important to our planet and our own health to avoid.

6. Le Sanctuaire l’huile de grace – I am not the product girl; in fact, I hardly ever paint my nails because I don’t own nail polish remover. However! I would take this little bottle of eco essential oils with me to the dessert island. I feel naked going to sleep without it slathered all over my face, undoing all the daily damage I do (and this is coming from a girl that sometimes forgets to her teeth before bed). It has restorative powers – truly.

7. Food, Inc.- It’s a must-see; perfect balance of entertaining and highly educational. It should be shown in every grade school class.
